The 4th annual St. Baldrick’s Foundation Fundraiser for Kids Cancer Research 
To hosted at the Waters Edge Golf Course in Marengo, IL.
JAM ROXX Entertainment Productions is providing 5 live bands, special guest appearance by Matthew Westphall of the band Westphall and will signing autographs. Savage Entertainment is providing outdoor inflatable activities for both kidsʼ and adults such as  a Kidsʼ caterpillar maze,  45 foot long obstacle course, a  14 foot Velcro Wall,  a dunk tank,  games & prizes, face painting, Hair braiding, fake tattoos, sidewalk picture chalking contest,  a 9 hole miniature golf course for the kids and adults, Radio Controlled Airplane flying skills demonstrations, Silent Auction items, Food items available at extremely reasonable prices and a Tent cooling and eating area with various beverages on hand.  The Miller Girls will be on site for some fun. Racine County Flood Victims Fundraiser

Araya Hope Relief Foundation along with Holy Communion Lutheran Church has
launched a Racine County Flood Relief effort to aid victims affected by the recent storms. Racine has recently been declared as a disaster site and many families are still left homeless or living in hazardous and unsanitary conditions because of the damage the flooding caused. Araya Hope Relief Foundation is sponsoring it’s first fundraiser, Tournament of Champions, on Saturday, August 23, 2008 at Hiawatha Bar & Grill in Sturtevant beginning at 1:00 p.m. The event will consist of several tournaments (darts, pool, horseshoes, golf, dartball, and washers), food, prizes, raffles, silent auction, and more! Tournament prices are a $10 donation in advance or $15 at the door. All proceeds will benefit the Racine County flood victims. 2008 Hesburgh Lecture Series on Immigration
The Notre Dame Club of Lake County, IL and Waukegan-based St. Martin de Porres High School (SMdP) announce today that they will be co-sponsoring a 2008 Hesburgh Lecture on Sunday, August 24. The event is open to the public and will be held at SMdP beginning at 2 pm. St. Martin de Porres High School is located at 515 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. in Waukegan. The topic of the lecture will focus on immigration, specifically Catholic social teaching about immigration, the economics of immigration and issues surrounding the current immigration debate in the United Sates. The lecture's guest speaker will be Allert Brown-Gort, Associate Director for the University of Notre Dame's Institute for Latino Studies. The presentation will also include a video from the University of Notre Dame's forum on immigration held October 2007 and an opportunity for those in attendance to participate in a question and answer period. Since 1986, the Hesburgh Lecture Series has brought a taste of Notre Dame's academic excellence to many across the country, perpetuating the example of President Emeritus Rev. Theodore M. Hesburgh, C.S.C. as a lifelong learner. From seven lectures in the first year, this program has expanded to 159 lecture topics presented by 69 faculty members on issues related to church, communications, contemporary social issues, ethics, family, government, science, social concerns, spirituality and others.

Food Drive to benefit Lake Delton Pantries
On Wednesday, Aug. 27, you can help Noah’s Ark Waterpark, America’s largest waterpark, stock Lake Delton’s local food pantries and then help yourself to a free ticket to the park. Come to the main entrance of Noah’s Ark between 8 and 9 a.m. with three non-perishable food items, and receive a wristband to get in free when the park opens at 10. Your food donations will benefit the Central Wisconsin Community Action Council, an organization serving families in the Wisconsin Dells and Lake Delton School Districts, two areas hit hard by the June floods. So, come to Noah’s Ark Wednesday, Aug. 27, between 8 and 9 a.m. with three non-perishable food items and enjoy a day on us.

Callahan Family YMCA
Old School Gym is coming to Kenosha at the YMCA! Class members 18 years of age and older will play old school games such as tag, dodge ball, kickball and participate in a variety of other exercises and games. Class begins Thursday, September 4th and continues through Thursday October 23rd at the Callahan Family Branch Gym, 7101-53rd Street, Kenosha. Cost is $25 for members of the YMCA and $50 for non-members. Sign up is accepted now at either Kenosha YMCA location. Description: See beautiful carved ivory representing the rich history and culture of ancient Asia from the exquisite collection of Dr. & Mrs. Clifton Peterson. The carvings, most carved in the 17th and 18th century, depict Chinese myths and legends dating back to as early as 2697 B.C. Dr. Peterson collected ivory sculpture over a number of years beginning in the early 1960s and developed a rich knowledge and passion for the subject. General admission is free. Group fees may apply.
